Sen Lek Thai - SM Makati Food Court

We never knew that the food court in SM Makati had undergone a great renovation. Its is more spacious now, cleaner and brighter. We can still remember eating at this food court when we were kids.Walking around the food court, we saw this stall. It's not usual that you see a THAI food stall.
There were pictures of food and a couple of people in line. So we decided to give it a try and these are what we ate.
Khaw Pad( Thai Fried Rice)
Cody: I was suprised with the serving size It was quite substantial. I love that it was fried on the spot. It has a distinctly sweet and salty taste.. which is because of their use of Thai fish sauce which is different from our local fish sauce which has a strong salty taste. There are bits of tiny shrimps and lots of shredded lettuce which i enjoyed.
Elle: True the serving size was big. Aside from the saltiness it actually had a spiciness to it that I liked. I would have liked it more though if they used bean sprouts and Thai basil, it probably would have made a bit more "Thai" than it actually was. There were tiny tiny tiny bits of shrimp I would have missed them if I weren't actually LOOKING for them. It would be a nice option to pay extra for big shrimps.
Pad Thai(Thai Fried Noodles)
Cody: It may look not as appetizing as other Pad thai from expensive Thai Restaurants. For 90 pesos a serving. It was indeed good enough for one hungry individual and can also be shared if you are not too hungry. Just the right balance of sweet and salty and tangy.
Elle: Again, I agree that the serving size was big enough. I liked the burnt peanut taste and the tanginess it had but it lacked the crunchiness of authentic Pad Thai. Again, I had to look for the CHICKEN bits if not I would have missed it. A good food item for someone adventurous enough to try something new.

Thai Sticks and steaks - Pasong Tamo, Makati City

Note: This place is already close, but we just have it feature it as it was dishing out good food.

Not really a name I would use for a thai restaurant. The original name of this place was THAI PAD, I wonder why they  change their name.

Thai Ice Tea:

Cody : This was nice and refreshing. Very nice and strong tea flavour. Blending perfectly with the coconut milk. Excellent rendition

Elle: Liked it, tasted like regular thai ice tea.

Tom Yum Goong:

Cody:  i love my tom yum with a dash of coconut milk,  just like this version. The spicyness was just right. The sour level was also good.

Chicken Pandan w Bagoong Rice
Cody : Their version was just okay, better than Soms, Chariya and even AZUTHAI. Hehe. Fried nicely that the pandan leaf added just the right accent to the chicken.

Elle:  same with cody, it was just okay

Thai Fish Cake

Cody:  a  bit doughy in taste, lots of extenders.  Not really something I would order again.

PHAD THAI

Cody : when its cheap pad thai, my comparison is always SOMS, which I hate, but this version was actually good, need more chili though for a little kick, but the saltiness and sweetness was just right.

Elle: am not really a fan of pad thai, so I really didn’t like this.

WE hope they would open again.. in a better location...

Siam House - Fileds Ave, Clark Field Pampanga

Thai Ice Tea

Elle: Their tea had  bits or specks of black, brownish  material in the bottom.  Most likely from the leaves they use in making tea.  It looked a bit scary but nevertheless it was still good. Asian version of tea latte-not to sweet and still tastes like tea regardless of the coconut milk.

Cody: I love thai ice tea. It refreshing at the same time rich and creamy….and this version is very very good. Packs lots of taste unlike some anemic thai ice iteas in other restos here in manila. Be sure to mix very well:)

Tom Yum

Elle- Delicious, sweet, sour, spicy soup with lots of cilantro.  It was both refreshing and satisfying.  The soup tasted fresh because of the lemongrass and cilantro and at the same time it was rich because of the coconut milk.  The coconut milk did not make it taste like guinataan (as always when it comes to Thai dishes and drinks)...which is a relief.

Cody: one of the better versions of Tom Yum soup. Loaded with shrimps and mushroom. I like how they added a splash of coconut milk(which other restos don’t do). It has the right amount of Spice, and tanginess..
